Novice Driver and Passenger Safety Session

Are We There Yet? is a novice driver and passenger safety session facilitated with class-sized groups by Youthsafe presenters. The 50 minute session contains a guided simulation and group discussion that reinforces the need for young drivers to:

  • recognise their novice status
  • manage distractions
  • limit passengers
  • continue gaining experience, even after obtaining their P-plates

The highly interactive activities raise awareness of the complexity of the physical and mental tasks associated with driving for both novice drivers and their passengers. Participants gain fresh insights and effective low-risk driving strategies within a harm-minimisation, competency-enhancement framework.

The session is suitable for pre-drivers, learner drivers, novice drivers and passengers of novice drivers.

Are We There Yet? supports NSW PDHPE Stage 5 and 6 Outcomes:

  • Stage 5, Outcome 5.6: Strand 3, Road Safety Topic
  • Stage 6, Outcome H6: HSC Option1, Area of Concern, Risk Taking and Road Related Injuries

Pilot tested in a range of school and non-school settings, Are We There Yet? delivers clear messages in Youthsafe’s trademark positive, youth-friendly way.
