Everyday risks and their consequences

The Everyday Initiative explores everyday risk scenarios to facilitate class discussions about risk and its consequences. During the 50 minute session Youthsafe presenters encourage the students to think about everyday risks, their consequences and how to make safer choices everyday.

Youthsafe developed the session in consultation with the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA), NSW Department of Education, the Catholic Education Commission and the Association of Independent Schools and complements the RTA road safety resource ‘Road Risk – Your Choice’.

The Everyday Initiative supports NSW PDHPE Stage 4 Outcome 4.7:

• Identifying the consequences of risk behaviours and
• Developing strategies to minimise harm

There is a strong focus on road safety as road trauma accounts for the largest number of deaths and injuries among young people.
