Learner Driver Mentor Programs PDF Print E-mail

Learner Driver Mentor Programs (LDMPs) provide support for new drivers to become licensed by allowing them use of a vehicle for practice while being supervised by a volunteer mentor.  These programs are designed to assist Learners who may not have ready access to a suitable supervising driver but need to get their licence for employment or other opportunities.  Youthsafe has been conducting some research into these programs over 2009 and we are aware of most programs available in NSW.

More information on LDMPs

LDMPs aren’t widely available in NSW yet and we don’t run a program ourselves.  However we can help by advising you if there is a program nearby, or point you in the right direction for further support and information.  We are also happy to take any calls from people who are interested in getting advice on starting up a LDMP or anyone wishing to volunteer to be a supervising mentor.  The best person in the Youthsafe office to speak to is Jeannine Grey, her contact details are telephone 9817-7847 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  Jeannine is in the office Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

LDMP Seminar

As part of Youthsafe’s investigations into LDMPs, we held a seminar in Sydney on 12 May 2009 to share knowledge and explore needs with those involved in or thinking of becoming involved in such programs.  To find out more about the seminar and to download copies of some of the presentations from the day, click here
