Everyday risks and their consequences
Everyday young people are injured as a result of dangerous risk taking

The Everyday Initiative explores everyday risk scenarios to facilitate class discussions and small group work about RISK and its consequences. During the 50 minute session Youthsafe presenters encourage the students to think through the issues, be risk aware and make safer choices everyday. There is a strong focus on road safety as road trauma accounts for the largest number of deaths and injuries among young people.

Youthsafe developed the 50 minute session in consultation with the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA), NSW Department of Education, the Catholic Education Commission and the Association of Independent Schools and complements the RTA road safety resource ‘Road Risk – Your Choice’.

The Everyday Initiative supports NSW PDHPE Stage 4 Outcome 4.7:

  • Identifying the consequences of risk behaviours and
  • Developing strategies to minimise harm

There is a strong focus on road safety as road trauma accounts for the largest number of deaths and injuries among young people.
